"Stuff just got real".. that's what the Philistines must have thought when Goliath fell to the ground. How many times in your life did that cross your mind? You're "livin" along and out of no where.."stuff just got real". This Sunday @ The Gathering we read the story of David and Goliath and started the conversation on the giants that we face in our journey.
What do you do when "stuff gets real?" David didn't understand why his countrymen didn't take care of Goliath when he was mocking Israel and by extension, God. So he went out into the field and slung a rock at Goliath's head and for the Philistines stuff got real. When he was done all the fame went to the real victor in the story, God.
When we are in relationship with God, He becomes our defender when our cause is just, when His fame is our life's goal. In His First Covenant He promised to defend Israel as long as Israel lived to bring fame to God. That's what David knew that the rest of 'em seemed to forget. We are in a relationship with God through Christ. When the giants come at us stuff will get real for them too.
Personal footnote:
My favorite part of the story is when David no longer stood there. He ran at Goliath while twirling His sling. That's cool. That must have been sweet to watch. Laters.
I find it interesting that you state on your blog Unique CHRISTIAN community when you state in your comments on facebook that you no longer call yourself a "Christian" and that "there is a negative connotation associated with that title" and yet it is part of your title and yet it it in the title of your blog.
